CalSEA is a new alliance that will support the US Navy’s efforts to bolster California's shipbuilding and maritime industrial base.

The CalSEA Program for California’s Maritime Industrial Base Companies

The California Shipbuilding Ecosystems Alliance (CalSEA) is an alliance of government agencies, industry, academic institutions, and nonprofits that have a long history of supporting California’s defense industry. By providing workforce development, supplier development and technology adoption, the alliance supports the US Navy’s efforts to develop and expand California’s submarine and maritime industrial base.

CalSEA’s efforts will focus on providing California Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) organizations with government-funded services, including:

  • Upskill training to help existing employees acquire new skills
  • New talent development and acquisition to support the next generation of workers
  • Training and technical assistance in areas such as:
    • Continuous Improvement to enhance capability, capacity, and performance
    • Industry 4.0/Smart Manufacturing adoption
    • Capital investments, including debt, equity and venture capital
    • New contracting opportunities for suppliers
  • Technical assistance with technology road mapping, funding strategies and acquisition of new technologies
  • Support for the adoption of Navy-critical technologies
  • Technology development consultations and planning to help suppliers access Navy opportunities and investment programs
